In order to increase the vaccination rate among young people, the vaccination buses of the City of Vienna will make more stops at schools in the coming weeks. In two summer schools the first stop will start on Tuesday, followed by vocational schools at the beginning of September.
In the age group of twelve to 24-year-olds, only 41 percent have received a first dose so far throughout Austria, 47 percent are fully immunized. Those under 18 are vaccinated with the vaccine from Biontech/Pfizer.
Registration for vaccination buses not required
Registration is not required for the vaccination buses. The first stop will be on Tuesday at the HTL in Grenzackerstrasse in Favoriten, followed on Thursday by the HLW3/Schulverein St. Franziskus in Erdbergstrasse 70 in Landstrasse. The other stops of the vaccination buses will be fixed soon and continuously added to the tour schedule of the vaccination buses (https://coronavirus.wien.gv.at/impfbus). Schoolchildren aged twelve and over are vaccinated; for those under 14, a declaration of consent from their parents is required.
“Taking vaccination to the people”
“We are thus continuing our program to bring vaccination to the people,” said Health City Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) in a statement on Monday. “The more young people take advantage of this offer, the safer the fall will be in our schools.” Vienna’s deputy mayor and education councillor Christoph Wiederkehr (NEOS) also stressed the relevance of immunizations to ensure a safe start to school. “I hope that many students will take up this great offer,” Wiederkehr said.
